Hoewel de wereld in het algemeen en innovatie in het bijzonder, baat heeft bij diversiteit en concurrentie, is er soms toch maar plek voor één dominante speler. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan standaarden die nodig zijn om daarop individuele ontwikkelingen mogelijk te maken. ABBA maakte hier ooit een liedje over: ‘The winner takes it all, the loser standing small.’
