Marketing a new label of umbrellas for a small niche: people who apply the Lean Startup method on a daily basis. The umbrellas carry the term "shit umbrella," in reference to the term as used within the method: Managers and product owners must be "shit umbrellas" to their team. They must ensure that their staff is protected from unnecessary meetings, interruptions and random changes so that they can focus on their work.
We set it up within 24 hours after an event (Online Tuesday) that covered the term and the Lean Startup method. A web shop for umbrellas and other accessories. Completed with a rationale of the idea and a webpage introducing the product.
Very limited product sales and minimal attention to the initiative. In which the mugs with the SH*T UMBRELLA logo were the most popular.
Umbrellas were marketed with the term "shit umbrella" in reference to the idea that managers and product owners should be the "shit umbrellas" for their team. They should ensure that their staff is protected from bureaucratic trivia. There was very little enthusiasm for the umbrellas, as the term 'shit umbrella' did not appear to be appealing enough to the public.
